Update: A downtown restaurant has closed following failed health inspection
A downtown restaurant has closed — at least for the time being.
A sign on the door to the Highlander Public House near Eighth Street and Scott Avenue in downtown Wichita Falls Thursday read, "Closed until further notice."
The restaurant failed an inspection by the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District on Wednesday.
"The facility manager in consultation with the owners opted to voluntarily close in order to address the issues present at the time of the inspection. The facility must remain closed until reopened by the Health District," the inspector wrote.
"In order to reopen the facility must be clean, pest control must be contacted and have a handle on the infestation, the cooling equipment (including the walk-in cooler, glass door display cooler, and low prep coolers along the line) must be maintaining temperature, and the facility must score at least an 80 during the reopening inspection," the health inspector wrote on the report.
The business's telephone mailbox was full on Thursday, and owner Erick Scott could not be reached for comment immediately.

The Highlander opened in the former Petroleum Building in 2017 as a restaurant featuring Irish fare and other menu items.
The upper floors of the building have recently been remodeled into apartments with the street level floor spaces reserved for businesses.
