Former President Donald Trump was shot at during a rally in Butler, Pa., on Saturday evening in what law enforcement officials are calling an assassination attempt. Secret Service agents rushed to the stage after popping sounds were heard coming from the direction of the crowd.
Trump dropped below the podium before he was rushed off the stage and to his motorcade. Blood could be seen dripping from around his ear. The alleged gunman is dead, and a rally attendee was also killed.
The former president's spokesman issued a statement following the event saying that Trump is "fine."
Trump took to Truth Social to thank the Secret Service and law enforcement "for their rapid response."

"I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear," the former president wrote. "I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin."
Authorities identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20. A motive has yet to be established.
