Driver attacked by bees after crashing into hive, house

BUENA PARK, Calif. (WJW) – A driver who crashed into a California home was hospitalized after being “savagely attacked” by bees.
According to the Buena Park Police Department, officers responded to the crash on Aug. 10 around 12:15 p.m.

Although no one was injured during the crash, “A bee hive was also damaged and the occupants were not pleased,” the police department said on Instagram.
The Buena Park Police Department shared a video of the aftermath of the crash on Instagram that shows the car crash, with a swarm of bees above. The Orange County Fire Authority is also seen spraying down the area with water.
According to the police department, the bees “Savagely attacked the driver who was taken to the hospital with a few stings after the OCFA cooled the bees off with some soap and water.”
It is unclear if the driver had an allergic reaction to the bee stings.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, “Bees use their stinger to defend themselves and their hive, which is a bee’s home. You may have an allergy to bee venom, which can cause a severe allergic reaction that requires immediate medical attention and can be life-threatening if left untreated.”
