Woman ejected from vehicle, killed in crash on SR-905

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — One person was killed Wednesday morning after being ejected during a solo-vehicle crash on state Route 905, said California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. when a 27-year-old San Diego woman was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound at the entry ramp to northbound Interstate 5. For reasons still under investigation, CHP said the woman veered to the right off the roadway and up a dirt embankment, causing the Toyota to overturn.

The driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was reportedly not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected onto the roadway during the crash, CHP said.

The transition ramp to northbound I-5 remained block for several hours while authorities conducted an investigation. During that time, motorists were directed around the crash site. That area has since reopened.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner was called to the scene. A toxicology report is pending to determine if alcohol/and or drugs were a factor in the crash. The identity of the deceased woman has not been released at this time.
