DUI Checkpoint to be held in Raleigh County
BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — A DUI Checkpoint will be held in the Beckley area of Raleigh County in August 2024.
According to a press release from the Beckley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, a DUI Checkpoint will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024. The checkpoint will be located on U.S. Route 19, around 0.1 mile south of the intersection with WV Route 41 (Johnstown Road), in Beckley.
Road closure to partially reopen in part of Raleigh County
DUI Checkpoints are meant to discourage people from driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, while also informing the public about the risks associated with driving while under the influence.
In the press release, members of the West Virginia State Police advised the public to help members of law enforcement prevent people driving while impaired by informing law enforcement agencies, the local detachment of the West Virginia State Police, or Crime Stoppers of West Virginia if they see someone driving under the influence.
