He plans to engage his social media followers (including about 80,000 on Instagram) and involve them in the conversations.
Douglas, who graduated from Brown University in 2022, has worked mostly in politics up until now, including on campaigns and for grassroots organizations. Earlier this year his parents hosted a fundraiser for President Joe Biden, and Dylan joined his father in introducing him, according to a White House pool report.
“He’s now stepping in front of the microphone because he feels strongly that his generation needs to play a more active and integral role in shaping the future of the country,” according to SiriusXM. His show will focus on issues of importance to Gen Z, including reproductive rights, climate change, and gun control.
Confirmed guests for the program include Sen. Ed Markey; gun reform activist David Hogg; Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party Anderson Clayton; and Deja Foxx, founder of GenZ Girl Gang. SiriusXM Progress is the company’s progressive channel, with hosts like Zerlina Maxwell, Dean Obeidallah, Michelangelo Signorile, John Fugelsang.
“It’s been a wild ride the last couple of years. From the start of forever wars, the first Black president, culture wars, and now a second chance at a first female president, my generation has lived through some of the most transformative and tumultuous times in our history; and it’s only gonna get crazier,” said Douglas in a statement. “I wanna take you through it. On my show, I won’t just talk you through the news of the day – I’ll underscore the larger issues spinning our country out of control.”
