East Baton Rouge School Board to vote for new superintendent next Thursday
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The vote to select who will be the next East Baton Rouge Schools superintendent has been moved to Thursday, July 18.
The school board planned to decide on its next superintendent during a special meeting on Thursday, but five members of the East Baton Rouge School Board abstained their vote and four members voted for Kevin George.
The two finalists for the superintendent position include George and Andrea Zayas. Krish Mohip was selected as the third finalist, but backed out after he accepted another position.
Adam Smith, who currently serves as the interim superintendent, was eliminated as a candidate after a June 28 vote by the school board. Teacher unions are threatening a sickout on the first day of school if Smith isn’t named the new leader.
