Election 2024: Nine candidates join race for East Baton Rouge mayor-president
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Qualifying for East Baton Rouge Parish mayor-president candidates ended on July 19. A total of nine have entered the race.
Ted James and incumbent Sharon Weston Broome, both Democrats, qualified on Wednesday, July 17.
Tambra “Tammy” Cook and Steve Myers, both Republicans, qualified on Thursday, July 18. Gregory Taylor, an Independent, also qualified on Thursday.
Nathaniel Hearn and Emile “Sid” Edwards, both Republicans, qualified and entered the race on Friday, July 19. William “Champagne” Roundtree and Ryan “Badd Biddness” Carter, both Independents, also qualified on Friday.
The primary election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and the ballot will include the race for president of the United States. The general election will determine any runoffs and is set for Saturday, Dec. 7.
