Election 2024: How to Watch the First Harris/Trump Debate Online
The first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Below, we’re outlining everything you need to know about ABC’s Trump vs. Harris debate, from where to watch it online to the debate rules.
The debate, which will be moderated by ABC News’ David Muir and Linsey Davis, will last 90 minutes with two commercial breaks. As previously announced, following a virtual coin flip, Trump has chosen to deliver the last closing statement of the evening, while Vice President Harris got to select podium placement and will be on the right side of your screen.

What Channel Is the First Trump vs. Harris Debate On?
The first presidential debate between Trump and Harris will be hosted by ABC News and televised on ABC, and livestreamed on Hulu and Disney+. Trump vs. Harris Debate Rules
Both candidates have agreed to the following list of rules during their first debate:
The moderators will be the only people asking questions; candidates will not be permitted to ask questions of each other.
No opening statements; closing statements will be two minutes per candidate.
Candidates will stand behind podiums for the duration of the debate.
Props or prewritten notes are not allowed.
No topics or questions will be shared in advance with campaigns or candidates.
Candidates will be given a pen, a pad of paper, and a bottle of water.
Candidates will be afforded two-minute answers to questions, two-minute rebuttals, and one extra minute for follow-ups, clarifications, or responses.
Candidates’ microphones will be live only for the candidate whose turn it is to speak, and muted when the time belongs to another candidate.
Campaign staff may not interact with candidates during commercial breaks.
Moderators will seek to enforce timing agreements and ensure a civilized discussion.
There will be no audience in the room.
