The district includes Albion and Cranesville boroughs and Conneaut, Elk Creek and Springfield townships in Erie County and Meadville, Conneaut Lake, Linesville and Conneautville in Crawford County.
His opponent is Meadville Democrat Mike Walker in the Nov. 5 general election.
Roae, 57, of East Mead Township, was a commercial underwriter for Erie Insurance for 14 years before he was first elected to the state House of Representatives in 2006. Roae is Republican chairman of the House State Government Committee and previously chaired the House Commerce and House Consumer Affairs committees. He has served on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors since his appointment to the board in 2019.
He is a graduate of Maplewood High School and Gannon University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. Roae also holds insurance and first responder certifications. An Eagle Scout, he was a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician for 25 years and also has volunteered with Boy Scouts as an assistant scoutmaster.
Roae is married and the father of three children. He is a member of St. Agatha's Roman Catholic Church in Meadville.
Roae's reason for seeking reelection, top priorities
Question: Why did you decide to seek another term for this office?
Answer: My votes on supporting gun rights, opposing tax increases, fighting against government overreach, etc., match with how the majority of people would vote on those things. I want to continue to represent them and fight for them.
If elected, what would be your priorities?
I want to continue to fight against reckless state spending and protect people from tax increases, oppose policies that encourage illegal aliens to come to Pennsylvania and continue work to protect our constitutional rights.
What unique perspective do you bring to the office?
My perspective is to let you keep more of your hard-earned money and that the government should not keep giving more people more things that taxpayers have to pay for.
How do you plan to help the region on a state level in Harrisburg?
My many years of fostering relationships with various federal, state and local officials and business leaders and many years of experience doing the job give me the ability to do everything I can to help our area.
