NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man is facing animal cruelty charges in connection to the discovery of an emaciated dog in the Little Woods neighborhood.
On Wednesday, July 31, the New Orleans Police Department reported that detectives executing a search warrant for an unrelated investigation came across an alleged animal cruelty case.

Detectives report they were in the 7800 block of Sail Street when they found the emaciated dog in the backyard of the home. The dog appeared to be “severely malnourished” with no dog food present on the property.
The dog also lacked access to fresh water, according to detectives, and was drinking runoff from a nearby gutter.
An assessment of the situation led to the discovery of a locked kennel placed directly in the sun with the skeletal remains of a second dog inside.
Detectives alerted officials with the LASPCA, which took custody of the dog.
