BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Entergy wants Louisiana customers to start storm preparation before a possible tropical storm expected to form Monday impacts the state this week.

The energy company said they are monitoring the weather and encouraging customers to get ready for potential power outages.

Entergy suggested putting together an emergency kit that includes items like water, medicine, cash, pet food, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, cell phone, charger, extra clothes, anything you might need for a baby and a first aid kit.

The company suggests that first aid kits should include multiple pairs of sterile gloves, prescription medications, non-prescription drugs, antibiotic ointment, adhesive bandages, burn ointment, sterile dressings, eyewash solution, scissors and a thermometer.

Is your severe weather plan up to date?

“We are urging our customers to take the potential of severe weather seriously and stay prepared,” said Steven Benyard, vice president of reliability for Entergy in Louisiana. “Now is not the time to let your guard down—please take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of your family and your home.”

There are multiple ways for customers to keep up to date before, during and after a storm. Entergy said customers can report outages on their app, see up-to-date information about outages on their website, and follow them on Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter.

If you sign up for notifications, you can also report an outage by texting 36778 or get updated information about a power outage by texting STAT. You can sign up for this on the Entergy website.

The Entergy Storm Center is another resource for customers to stay updated before, during, and after the storm.

The company said in a news release, “Entergy’s Louisiana utilities will begin restoring power to customers as safely and quickly as possible after the storm passes.”
