Extreme heat along with risk of severe thunderstorms expected for Akron this weekend
A heat wave continues to engulf northern Ohio.
And weather forecasters say the worst is yet to come this weekend.
The unseasonably warm temperatures this week have also brought a daily risk of isolated severe thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service has extended its heat advisory through Saturday night as temperatures well into the 90s are expected with the so-called "real feel temperatures" anywhere from 100 to 104 degrees.
The warmest day of the weekend is expected to be on Saturday with a high in Greater Akron around 95 degrees.
All of Ohio is considered by the weather service to be at an extreme or major heat risk on Saturday.
The high on Sunday is expected to be 90, but things cool off a bit next week with highs in the 80s starting Monday.

Aside from the heat, forecasters say the other weather risk is severe storms that may pop up through Sunday.
"Storms on Friday through Sunday could reach strong to severe limits with strong, damaging winds and large hail possible," the weather service says.
