Family endures summer heat with no AC in apartment
EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) — The summer heat has really been ramping up and making it even more important to stay cool and hydrated, but for one family, they don’t have the option to stay cool.
News 4 is looking out for a tenant at the Oxford Oaks Apartments in Edmond who has been dealing with no working AC for a month.

“My oldest does have autism, so she has sensory issues,” Summer Moore, tenant at Oxford Oak Apartments said. “She’s not sleeping well because she’s too hot.”
Moore lives at the Oxford Oaks Apartments in Edmond with her kids. She says for the past month, problems with her air condition have made keeping it cool, impossible.
“We started having problems May 20th-ish this year of our air conditioner not working again,” Moore said.
With no working air conditioning during the start of summer where temps are reaching the triple digits, it makes it very uncomfortable inside of her apartment.
“It’s hard and it’s sad when your kids are begging you to make it colder and you can’t make it colder except for put a fan in their room, turn on the ceiling fan,” Moore said.
Moore has reached out to management, put in work orders and even called their corporate office, with no luck.
“Whenever you ask management, when will it be fixed? They just say, oh, our maintenance quit,” Moore said. “On Friday last week and we had asked them and they said, “we’re trying to hire maintenance. We hired a lead maintenance, so we should be able to start getting it fixed soon.” He said, well, when? And she said, “I don’t know.” We said, well, that’s not the answer because we’re still paying you rent every month.”
We spoke with management, but they referred us to corporate. So, we called Nova Property Network, but no one answered.
Moore is left not knowing what to do and all she wants is for her AC to be fixed.
“The girls want to stay at like a hotel or something, we can’t afford that,” Moore said. “We pay our rent and we expect to be able to stay here.”
Until their air conditioning is fixed, Moore says they will continue to find places to go in order to stay cool during the day and will just have to suffer through the night.
