Family of fallen former Huntsville firefighter receive mortgage-free home
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The family of a former Huntsville firefighter who died on vacation in 2023 has received a life changing gift.
Kevin Rose spent more than 20 years with Huntsville Fire & Rescue before medically retiring. On June 23rd, 2023, Rose passed away, leaving his wife, three sons and grandchildren behind.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has gifted the Rose family a mortgage-free home.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation recently announced that back in March, it gave his family the life-changing gift of a mortgage-free home.
“It’s our honor to help Page and her children,” said John Huvane, Tunnel to Towers Foundation VP of in-line of duty programs.
Rose’s wife, Page Rose, told News 19, “When I was contacted by the foundation, I was taken aback. With their help, I will not be financially broken”
Page said after her husband’s death she was “completely lost”

“I lost the most precious part of our family,” Page said. “Kevin was a leader in our home and an active participant in the lives of our children. He was the financial provider for our family.”
Now with the help of Tunnels to Towers, the family will not have to worry about making mortgage payments.
“The Tunnels To Tower Foundation has gone above and beyond to make the life of this little family better,” Page said. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You will never know the impact you have made for people like me.”
Huvane said when the foundation reached out to Page, he did not think she believed something like this would happen. He said they’re grateful they can ease the burden for the family.

“A lot of families survive on two incomes and then they’re getting by and then you take one of those away, and what happens is, it’s possible your children would have to leave, downsize, go to a different school district, go to a different doctor, lose their friends” Huvane said. “So our foundation is about the stability of those young children in hopes to survive in the sense that they don’t have to worry about that bill anymore.”
Huvane said the foundation helps about 200 families each year, and they do so with the help of $11 dollar donations.
In addition to helping families with mortgages and ensuring they have stable homes, the foundation also brings families together each year in New York City. Huvane said it is a great way to ensure families of fallen first responders have a support group.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was started in memory of Stephen Siller, a NYC firefighter who ran through the tunnel connecting Brooklyn to Manhattan on 9/11 to the Twin Towers during the attack. Siller left behind multiple children, and his remains were never recovered.
