Lanes reopen after fatal crash involving 18-wheeler on I-610 in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man is dead following a crash at Interstate 610 and Elysian Fields in New Orleans on Wednesday, July 17.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the crash happened at 5:50 a.m. involving a Camero and 18-wheeler.
An investigation revealed both vehicles were headed west on the interstate when, for reasons unknown, the man lost control of the Camero, crashing into the 18-wheeler and the center guard rail before the truck struck the car again and came to rest.

Police say the driver of the Camero was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS while the driver of the 18-wheeler reported no injuries.
The crash left the westbound lanes of Interstate 610 at Elysian Fields Avenue closed before the Franklin Avenue exit, according to NOPD officers.
As of 10 a.m., all lanes have reopened.
