Federal funding will help three New Mexico tribal communities build affordable housing
NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Three tribal communities in New Mexico were awarded a total of $10.5 million to create more affordable housing.
NMDOT receives $71M grant to replace two bridges on I-25 in Soccoro County
The San Ildefonso Housing Authority, the Santa Clara Housing Authority, and the Zuni Housing Authority received the following funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development:
San Ildefonso Housing Authority: $3,000,000 for the construction of 12 new housing units
Santa Clara Housing Authority: $3,000,000 for the construction of 10 new housing units
Zuni Housing Authority: $4,500,000 for the construction of 22 new housing units
The money can be used for new construction, rehabilitation, and infrastructure to support affordable housing. “The Biden-Harris Administration is proud to work alongside our Tribal partners to help them meet the housing needs that exist in Indian Country,” HUD Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman said in a news release. “These funds will help build and repair homes desperately needed right now.”
