Federal prosecutors removed from case involving death of Peter Gerace witness

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A federal judge called for the prosecutors looking into the death of a key witness in the criminal case against Cheektowaga strip club owner Peter Gerace to be removed.

Gerace, the owner of Pharoah’s Gentlemen’s Club, was indicted in March 2021 on drug and human trafficking charges. The club had previously been raided in 2019. He was also arrested on witness tampering charges in March 2023.

Representatives for Gerace told WIVB News 4 that Judge Jeremiah McCarthy called for the removal of the prosecutors Friday.

He claims they purposefully missed a deadline to provide the defense with evidence in connection to the drug overdose death of Crystal Quinn, who agreed to testify against Gerace before she was found dead last August. Prosecutors believe she was intentionally given a deadly dose of fentanyl.

The prosecution has two weeks to appeal McCarthy’s decision.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office declined to comment.
