'A felonious thug': Georgia Republican Geoff Duncan calls party a cult 2024 DNC speech
Former Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan was the latest in a string of Republicans who rebuked their party's nominee at the 2024 DNC.
Duncan took to the podium Wednesday and pointed towards Republican nominee Donald Trump's pressure campaign in Georgia as the primary reason he would vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.
"These days our party acts more like a cult," Duncan said. "A cult worshiping a felonious thug."
Duncan praised Harris' prosecutorial mindset and said that voting for her would make Republican voters, "a patriot."
Duncan endorsed the Democrat's then presumptive nominee President Joe Biden in May.
"Trump has shown us who he is. We should believe him. To think he is going to change at the age of 77 is beyond improbable,” he wrote in a column in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
