FEMA letters to New Mexico applicants will contain important details, agency says

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Otero County, Lincoln County, and Mescalero Apache Reservation residents should keep their eye out for letters from FEMA. They may come by mail or email.

After the South Fork and Salt Fires, community members were encouraged to apply for help from FEMA if they suffered damages or losses.

FEMA stated they send letters after residents apply for federal disaster assistance. Those leters contain important details and require careful reading. They might include how much assistance you’ll receive or what you can use those funds for.

If you’ve received a letter and need help understanding it, call FEMA’s helpline at 800-621-3362. Click here to visit FEMA’s disaster assistance website.
