Festivities kick off at CelebrateErie 2024 after return to normalcy
Back to normal means, all systems go for CelebrateErie. Friday evening kicked off three days of food, fun, art and music.
We spoke with business owners about having the opportunity to be a part of the festival this year.
‘Everything’s good’ Festivities underway at Celebrate Erie after morning shooting
CelebrateErie is underway for the 2024 festival with fun for all who attend. This year’s mainstage features various artists.
“There’s so much great awesome local live music in addition to our national headliners and tonight One World Tribe celebrating their 30th anniversary so always new music every year trying to bring something fresh,” said Dave Tamulonis, a CelebrateErie board member.
Joining one world tribe on the mainstage will be Jimmy Eat World on Saturday and Gabby Barrett on Sunday with other performers taking to the Perry Square stage, family stage, and living room stage.
Tamulonis said the reception from the community year after year has yet to disappoint.
“I think it just shows that Erie will turn out and support everything we have to celebrate about Erie it’s not just the live music it’s the businesses the food everything is worth coming out for every year,” he said
Business owners at CelebrateErie consider this an opportunity to showcase what they have to offer to people in the community who might not be familiar with them.
“A thousand percent yeah when you’re running the truck you have to run on a more limited menu so it’s more limited than what we normally offer in the food hall but it’s definitely a great way to introduce the sourdough crust,” said Jason Spore, owner of Ippa Pizza Napoletana.
Police release name of suspect for Friday armed carjacking, police shooting
“It’s very nice because it’s like having a park in the middle of the downtown area because they shut off all the roads it’s very nice,” said Brian Crew, owner of Erie Bubble Company.
And while celebrating the Flagship City this weekend, local law enforcement has tips on staying safe while having fun.
“Obviously any time you’re out and about especially in an unfamiliar place it’s good to travel in a group, any valuables we recommend people keep their car locked and don’t leave any valuables out and in sight,” said Benjamin Steiner, a patrolman for the Millcreek Police Department.
“We have a lot of extra officers working for the event myself with Millcreek we have the state police the sheriff’s department various agencies are all down here working together with the Erie Police Department to be prepared for the entire event and anything that could happen here,” Steiner went on to say.
