‘Fill the Food Bank’: News 19 needs YOU to help combat food crisis in North Alabama
ALABAMA (WHNT) — We are in a Food Crisis. Food needs in Madison County have skyrocketed, and other counties are on the rise too.
Chances are you know someone who struggles to find enough food to eat for themselves and their family, and no one should go hungry.
So, News 19 needs your help to Fill the Food Bank of North Alabama, starting on Monday, August 12. We need you to donate. It’s an investment in our people.
Every dollar donated provides seven meals. Yes – 7 meals! $10 provides seventy meals and $20 delivers 140 meals.
The food bank can get fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and more at a significantly lower price. This means your monetary donation stretches a lot more than it would at the local grocery store.
In 2023, we raised enough money to provide 187,726 meals for the Tennessee Valley. That is more than the populations of Lawrence and Limestone Counties combined. We helped the Food Bank fill food needs for children, seniors and families facing food insecurity. But our work is not done.
To donate monetarily, you can do so by texting “FOODBANK” to 256-746-6112 or by visiting the donation website here.
Your money goes a long way to combat food needs in our communities.
Earlier in August our News 19 Team volunteered at the Food Bank of North Alabama. We are all in on ending food insecurity for the community.
