Finalist in East Baton Rouge superintendent search withdraws
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A final candidate in the search for a new East Baton Rouge Parish Schools Superintendent has withdrawn.
In a letter sent to the LSU Lab School community, Kevin George said that he chose to withdraw from the selection process.
“I have decided to withdraw my name from the consideration for the position and remain at the best school in the United States,” said George.
George has been the director at the LSU Lab School since 2021. Before that, he worked with the Louisiana Department of Education as the District Support Deputy Network Leader.
Division between East Baton Rouge School Board, community about superintendent candidates
During a Thursday special meeting with the school board, officials were unable to select a new superintendent. Board members attempted to add interim superintendent Adam Smith to the list of finalists but the motion failed. The selection was postponed to Thursday, July 18.
