Fire destroys South Memphis home a day after deadly stabbing
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The same South Memphis home where a man was found stabbed to death was left engulfed in flames a day later.
Memphis Fire Department says they responded to 305 East Georgia Avenue regarding a house fire around 5:30 a.m. According to reports, it took them nearly 30 minutes to get the heavy fire under control.
No injuries were reported during that time and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

A day before, around 11 a.m., the fire department says a man was found stabbed to death at the same home.
Family members have identified the victim as 80-year-old Robert C. Jones. His loved ones say he was “brutally murdered” while in the home that he has lived in for more than 20 years.
MPD is working to determine if the incidents are connected. Police have not released any additional information.
