Window air condition unit causes fire at St. Tammany Parish home

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A fire at a St. Tammany Parish home was extinguished by the homeowner Thursday morning, according to firefighters.

On June 27, firefighters with St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District 1 said they responded to a house fire on Loop Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters said they learned the homeowner, who was home at the time, was able to extinguish the flames and keep them from spreading while calling for help.

An investigation revealed that a window air conditioner unit in a bedroom was the reported cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
