Flagler County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Old Kings Elementary School in Palm Coast Wednesday afternoon after an anonymous threatening call was directed at a school, according to a social media post.

It was the third time in two days that the sheriff's office responded to such a call. On Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, deputies were dispatched to Buddy Taylor Middle School. The middle school and Wadsworth Elementary School were both locked down Wednesday morning until police were able to search and clear any threats.

The sheriff's office posted on social media Wednesday afternoon that there was "a strong police presence at Old Kings Elementary School."

The sheriff's office stated earlier Wednesday that the calls were "swatting," a growing national trend designed to spark a police response, including by SWAT teams.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to call its non-emergency line at 386-313-4911 or email [email protected]. A tip can also be submitted on the sheriff's office website or its app.
