Fool Me Once star Adeel Akhtar has joined the cast of Ruth Wilson's upcoming conspiracy drama Down Cemetery Road.

The previously announced Apple TV+ show is adapted from a book of the same name by Slow Horses author Mick Herron. It's set to star Wilson and Oscar winner Emma Thompson as two women who team up to investigate the disappearance of a girl, embroiling them in a complex conspiracy.

It's now been announced that Akhtar has joined the cast alongside nine other actors, including Femme's Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Baby Reindeer's Tom Goodman-Hill, Trying star Darren Boyd and The Woman in the House actor Tom Riley.

Adam Godley (The Great), Sinead Matthews (The Power), Ken Nwosu (The Winter King), Fehinti Balogun (A Gentleman in Moscow) and Aiysha Hart (We Are Lady Parts) will also star.

Down Cemetery Road's official synopsis reads: "When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbour Sarah Tucker (Wilson) becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zo? Boehm (Thompson).

"Zo? and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead."

Elsewhere, Wilson is next set to appear on screen alongside Michael Sheen in Prime Video's A Very Royal Scandal.

The upcoming series will dramatise the true story of how BBC journalist Emily Maitlis (Wilson) secured an interview with Prince Andrew (Sheen) for Newsnight to discuss his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and the allegations of sexual abuse made against him by Virginia Giuffre.

The three-part drama also stars Joanna Scanlan, Alex Jennings, éanna Hardwicke and Claire Rushbrook.

Down Cemetery Road will stream on Apple TV+. A Very Royal Scandal premieres on Prime Video on September 19.
