Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson joining University of Arkansas law school as a professor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced on Thursday he will join the University of Arkansas’s School of Law faculty as an executive in residence.

The university said in a news release that Hutchinson will teach a course on leadership in state and federal government and participate in continuing legal education and moot court programs.

“This is where it all began for me,” Hutchinson said in the release about the School of Law. “To be here is an honor and exhilarating. To see the excitement of the students and their dedication to make a difference and pursue justice is inspiring.”

The former Republican presidential candidate told KNWA/FOX24’s Perry Elyaderani that he is grateful for the opportunity to influence the next generation of leaders in Arkansas.

“It’s an exciting time to join our faculty as we celebrate our centennial year,” Cynthia Nance, dean of the School of Law, said. “Governor Hutchinson’s professional career as an accomplished attorney and his political career as a United States representative, governor and presidential candidate make him an excellent addition to the law school community. We are thrilled for him to teach and to engage with the next generation of lawyers.”

He will officially join the faculty in the spring 2025 semester.
