HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — A former Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested on Thursday after child pornography was allegedly found on a device he owned.

According to the TPSO, the former deputy, 34-year-old Brent Ridder, of Hammond, was being investigated by detectives with the Hammond Police Department for an unrelated reason, when they allegedly found evidence of child pornography on a device that Ridder owned.
Search warrants were then executed on Ridder’s home where other devices were taken to be evaluated. Ridder was arrested and booked into the HPD Jail on one count of possession of child pornography and one count of malfeasance in office.

After being notified of the initial investigation, TPSO Sheriff Joseph Sticker reportedly placed Ridder on administrative leave, which included the surrender of his uniforms, gear and unit.
Sticker said that Ridder had been with the agency for six years and has been fired from the TPSO. After being booked into the HPD Jail, he was later transferred to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
“These allegations make me sick,” said Sticker. “And I will say this until I am blue in the face; the standards at this agency are better than this. The people who represent this agency are better than this. The public that this agency serves deserves better than this. I will continue to ensure those who wear our badge are worthy to do so.”
