Former TPSO jailer arrested in contraband case

AMITE, La. (WGNO) — A former Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office corrections deputy was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 27 following a contraband investigation at the parish jail.
According to the TPSO, the former deputy, 21-year-old Tajah Phillips, was arrested following the submission of several tips from the public over several days, saying that Phillips had allegedly been selling and providing illegal items to inmates at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

An investigation allegedly confirmed the accusations, leading to her immediate termination and arrest. Phillips was booked on one count of introducing contraband to a correctional facility and malfeasance in office. She had been a corrections officer since June.
The investigation remains ongoing.
