‘Forrest Gump’ actor Gary Sinise visits Brooklyn firefighters
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Mealtime at the firehouse is always an important part of the day.
Some first responders had a special guest for lunch on Friday in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Actor Gary Sinise brought food and a big check for the FDNY Foundation to Engine Company 280/Ladder 132.
He established the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011 to serve first responders, military personnel, veterans, and their families.
Sinise has always volunteered and supported heroes and their families. He established a foundation in 2011. The mission includes everything from meals to mental health services.
The Crown Heights Firehouse is a special place. He met Captain John Vigiano, Sr., after the September 11th attacks. Vigiano’s two sons were killed in the towers.
He inspired Sinise to visit and support first responders. He is famous for his roles in “Forrest Gump” and “CSI: NY.” They also honored the heroes of September 11th and presented the FDNY Foundation with $10,000, which will be used for education programs and distributing free smoke detectors.
