Four arrested after tip leads to Mandeville traffic stop, drug bust

MANDEVILLE, La. (WGNO) — Four people were arrested after an anonymous tip led to a traffic stop and drug bust in Mandeville.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies pulled over a car on Aug. 8 while investigating an anonymous tip about alleged drug activity in the area.

STPSO officials said four adults and a 3-month-old infant were inside the car during the stop.

In a search of the car, STPSO deputies said they found counterfeit prescription pills containing fentanyl, two stolen guns and “cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Following the search, STPSO deputies arrested 19-year-old Christopher Havers, 23-year-old Layla Bruno and 21-year-old Trinity Conigliaro.

Detectives then searched a home in the 22000 block of Third Street, where Bruno and Havers had reportedly been living.

During the search, STPSO detectives said they recovered additional counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, an “unlawfully possessed” semi-automatic rifle with a drum magazine, illegal THC products and drug paraphernalia.

Throughout the investigation, STPSO detectives said in total they recovered more than 2,000 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, two stolen guns, $1,040 in cash, a semi-automatic rifle with a drum magazine, THC products and drug paraphernalia.

According to the STPSO, at the home, detectives also found “a recorded cellphone video of another resident of the home, 20-year-old Julien Simmons, restraining a dog and blowing marijuana smoke into the dog’s face.”

Havers faces the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to distribute a schedule II CDS (fentanyl)

  • Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses

  • Two counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms

  • Illegal carrying of weapons

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Bruno faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a schedule II CDS (fentanyl)

  • Illegal carrying of weapons

  • Unlawful distribution of a vapor product to someone under the age of 21

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Conigliaro faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a schedule II CDS (fentanyl)

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Simmons faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a schedule II CDS (fentanyl)

  • Possession of a schedule I CDS (THC)

  • Cruelty to animals

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
