Francine enters Mississippi as a tropical storm

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Tropical storm Francine enters the state of Mississippi this morning with sustained winds of 45 mph after making landfall in Terrebonne Parish, La. on Wednesday evening. The storm is moving to the NE at 12 mph.

A tropical storm warning is still issued for a large portion of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi as the threat for damaging winds and heavy rain continue throughout the next few hours. By this evening gusts of wind calm down to near 10 mph. Until then, it will be very breezy at times in the New Orleans area.
