Frozen waffle recall over listeria risk expanded to include pancakes: See affected products
TreeHouse Foods has expanded its previously announced voluntary recall of frozen waffles to also include frozen toaster waffle, Belgian waffle and pancake products due to the products being linked to a potential listeria contamination, the company said Tuesday.
The recall was expanded to include products manufactured on all lines at its manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, the company said, and the products were sold at many retailers across the U.S. and Canada. The issue was discovered through routine testing at the facility and there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or injured linked to the recalled products to date, TreeHouse said in the statement.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in its recall alert last Friday that listeria monocytogenes is “an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."
