Frozen waffles sold at Publix, Target, Walmart, other stores recalled over listeria risk
Check your freezer if you buy frozen waffles. Certain brands of the fluffy breakfast favorite have been linked to a listeria contamination.
TreeHouse Foods has issued a voluntary recall on Friday for its frozen waffle products that are sold at many retailers across the country and in Canada.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in its recall alert that listeria monocytogenes is “an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."
TreeHouse Foods told USA TODAY that the issue was found at one of their manufacturing facilities.
"This issue was discovered through routine testing at our manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada," Howard Karesh, a spokesperson for TreeHouse Foods, said in a statement. "There have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or injuries linked to the recalled products."
