CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Gameday Spirit is still working to restock their shelves after Saturday’s sold-out football game.

Employees said it was a record-breaking weekend of sales. Crowds of Illini fans flooded both the Green Street and Neil Street store locations ahead of the game’s “Orange Out” theme.

Retail manager Cory Shumard said they’ve been busy since the start of the school year, but that last Saturday was like no other.

Shumard has been busy hiring new employees and organizing deliveries of merchandise ahead of Homecoming Weekend.

“We’ll spend a lot of time here the next two, three days just trying to replenish everything that we just sold out of,” Shumard said. “We’re literally probably getting a delivery as we speak, deliveries a couple times a day, but this is homecoming.”

Shumard teased that there might be some homecoming-exclusive clothing hitting the shelves this week. On Friday at 9 a.m., a limited supply of Dick Butkus bobbleheads will go on sale at both store locations.
