‘Get a grip man’: Clinton campaign chair Podesta fires back at Trump
John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chair, didn’t hold much back on Friday after President Trump claimed that G-20 summit attendees were somehow abuzz about him.
“Everyone here is talking about why John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA,” Trump wrote from Hamburg, Germany. “Disgraceful!”
Trump was referring to the 2016 WikiLeaks email leaks, apparently conflating the messages from Podesta with those from the Democratic National Committee. As Podesta noted in a series of tweets, he was not in charge of the DNC’s response to the hacking attacks, which targeted both him and the Democratic committee.
The U.S. intelligence community accused the Russian state of leading the hacks in an attempt to influence last year’s election. Podesta suggested that Trump bring up “crime” while meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20.
Podesta also called Trump a “whack job,” urging him: “Dude, get your head in the game. You’re representing the US at the G20.”
