Ghostly Grove won't return for scares this year in Pinckney

PINCKNEY — At least one of Livingston County's haunted attractions won't return in 2024, following an announcement from Ghostly Grove on social media Saturday, Sept. 14.

"Ghostly Grove would like to thank all our customers who came out and supported us the last five years," organizers wrote. "It has been our pleasure to create a haunted attraction that brought out your screams and made your nightmares come to life."

Chris Schell and his wife Dea Greer Schell began transforming their 250-acre farm and woods at 10055 Dexter-Pinckney Road into an agricultural tourism and entertainment destination in 2019. Since then, they've added new scenes, structures and lengths of trail to Ghostly Grove.

"It's a super, dark thick woods," Chris told The Daily in 2022. "It's gnarly. I mean, we have nice clean trails, but to the sides it's gnarly and as dark as possible."

"Sadly, due to circumstances beyond our control, the decision to close Ghostly Grove has been made," the haunt's post continued. "We are very sorry and are disappointed that this decision became necessary. Please know your patronage and time spent at our haunt means everything to us."

Organizers added if they couldn't give "110%" it would be "doing you and ourselves a grave disservice."
