Glenn Grothman wins 6th Congressional District race in Wisconsin election
MADISON - Glenn Grothman will serve another term as the 6th Congressional District's representative.
Grothman, 69, was reelected Tuesday, defeating a challenge from Democrat John Zarbano.
Zarbano, of Oshkosh, is a retired bank attorney who worked as the box office manager at UW-Oshkosh Theatre Department following his retirement in addition to teaching entertainment law at the school and hospitality law at Fox Valley Technical College.
Grothman has served as the representative of the 6th District since 2014, and before that served in the state Assembly from 2002 to 2005 and joined the state Senate from 2005 to 2015.
He focused his campaign on increased border security and opposed diversity inclusion programs and what he's called "an obsession with race in our military."
During his time in Congress, Grothman has become one of the most prolific House floor speakers. He has delivered more floor speeches than nearly any other House member, and in his last term, he was ranked first for number of "special order" speeches and in the top 10 for one-minute speeches.
He also during the current term introduced a bill that would encourage pilots and other civilian aviation personnel to report unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAPs, without fear of negative career or other repercussions.
Grothman is a member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce, the Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the Committee on the Budget.
The 6th Congressional District includes areas north of Milwaukee and Madison in eastern Wisconsin, including the communities of Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Portage and Manitowoc.
