Glow Night puts STEM activities in new light for Sebring students
SEBRING – Students at B.L. Miller Elementary School recently enjoyed a night of fun learning activities and bright lights as more than 200 people attended a Glow Night.
The event, hosted in partnership with Success After 6, OH WOW! Kids (Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology) and the B.L. Miller Partners In Education, offered a chance to try STEM and math activities for the whole family.
Guests got hands-on at stations including Let it Roll, Glow Jenga, Glow Spoons, Glow Cups, Glow Bowling and Glow Gear. Elaine Huncik, the outreach coordinator for OH WOW! Kids provided STEM Sak Bundles for students and families to experience hands-on, interactive thinking with a fluorescent experiment.
“Our students and families had a fun night of learning, all while glowing in the dark,” said Jill Dennis, family engagement coordinator for Sebring Local Schools and the Success After 6 coordinator. “I can’t thank those who made this night a huge success, including OH WOW!, Success After 6 Champions, Principal Nichole Hanley, B.L. Miller Elementary staff, B.L. Miller fourth- and fifth-grade Student Council, and Sebring McKinley student volunteers.”
