Gonzales man found shot to death inside his home, sheriff says

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead inside his residence on Thursday, August 1.

According to APSO, deputies responded to an apartment along Louisiana Highway 44 in Gonzales at 1 a.m.

Deputies found the body of Mark Johnson Jr., 26, of Gonzales, with gunshot wounds.

The sheriff’s office asked that anyone with information that could help detectives call anonymously at 225-621-4636 or text 847411. You can also call Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867 and be eligible for a cash reward.

The investigation remains ongoing and more information will be shared as it becomes available.
