Who is on Goodyear City Council? What to know about the members
Goodyear has six City Council members who each serve four-year terms with a three-term limit.
Vice Mayor Laura Kaino
Vice Mayor Laura Kaino was appointed to the City Council in 2018 to fill a vacant seat. She was elected in 2019.
Kaino first became involved with Goodyear by participating in the Citizen's Academy and Police Citizen's Academy. She also previously served on the Arts & Culture Commission and the Citizen’s Water Conservation Committee. Kaino retired from the city of Phoenix, where she worked in human resource management in several departments including law and water services.
Kaino and her husband, Lance, have lived in the West Valley since 1993. Her term will expire in 2024.
Councilmember Sheri Lauritano
Councilmember Sheri Lauritano was elected to her first full term in 2011 after having been appointed the previous year to fill a vacant seat. She was reelected in 2015 and 2019 so will be ineligible for a subsequent term. She served as vice mayor from 2015 to 2017.
Lauritano is a former prosecutor with the city of Phoenix and was head of the city's domestic violence unit. She is a partner in the firm Bain & Lauritano, PLC where she specializes in criminal and family law. She has been practicing law since 1994. Lauritano also holds a real estate license with her husband's firm, Arizona Pro Realty.
Lauritano has been living in Goodyear since 1995. She and her husband, Stephen, have two children. Her term will expire in 2024.
Councilmember Wally Campbell
Councilmember Wally Campbell was elected to the Goodyear City Council in 2011 to complete the term of then-Vice Mayor Georgia Lord which ended in June 2013. She was reelected in 2013, 2017 and 2022, making her ineligible for another term. Campbell has served on several other committees within the city.
Campbell serves on a number of regional and local boards, including the Maricopa Association of Governments Human Services Committee and Community Initiatives committee and the Maricopa Association of Governments Public Safety.
Campbell has lived in Arizona since 2000. She previously worked as staff for the leadership of the California State Legislature for 21 years. She was married to her husband John for 53 years before his death in 2020. She is the mother of four children.
Campbell's term will expire in 2026.
Councilmember Bill Stipp
Councilmember Bill Stipp was elected to his first council term in 2011 and was reelected in 2015 and 2019, making him ineligible for another term. Stipp has over 30 years of public sector experience and works as a public sector consultant focusing on operational management, strategic planning and employee development. He is also a contractor for the U.S. Army, developing their Homeland Response Forces.
Stipp is involved in several local committees, such as the Valley Metro RPTA Board of Directors and the Valley Metro Audit and Finance Subcommittee.
Stipp and his wife, Lisa, have lived in Goodyear since 2001. They have two children. Stipp's term will expire in 2024.
Councilmember Brannon Hampton
Councilmember Brannon Hampton was first elected to City Council in 2017, and again for a second term in 2022. Hampton is a financial advisor with Edward Jones. He is active on several committees including the Maricopa Association of Governments.
Hampton has resided in Goodyear for over 10 years with his wife Rebecca and their three children. His term will expire in 2026.
Councilmember Vicki Gillis
Councilmember Vicki Gillis was elected to her first term in 2022. Gillis is from Washington and worked in the entertainment industry before being asked to serve her community.
Gillis spent several years working to help support the James Zadroga Bill, also known as the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. She also spent time helping former U.S. Army Green Berets special forces personnel arrange training for SWAT programs in Arizona and California.
Gillis' term will expire in 2026.
