Grammy-nominated pop singer joins with country group for show in the Modesto region
Stockton native Chris Isaak returns to the region for a show at Ironstone Amphitheatre, playing on a bill with country band Midland.
Other regional entertainment from Aug. 5 to 11 includes a staging by Modesto Performing Arts of “White Christmas” and the Turlock Community Theatre hosting the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band.

Pop crooner Chris Isaak joins country group Midland at the Ironstone Amphitheatre in Murphys. Grammy-nominated Isaak is best known for his hits “Wicked Game,” “Somebody’s Crying” and “Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing.”
Midland is known for “Longneck Way to Go,” “Drinkin’ Problem,” “Burn Out” and more. The show also features country singer Cam.

“White Christmas”
Modesto Performing Arts brings the holiday classic “White Christmas” to the Gallo Center for the Arts. The musical is based on the 1950s movie starring Bing Crosby, with music by Irving Berlin.
“It has a dazzling, uplifting score to delight audiences of all ages,” a press release from MPA said. The score includes favorites such as “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep,” “Sisters,” “Blue Skies,” “The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing” and “White Christmas.”
The production tells the story of Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, who have a successful song-and-dance act after World War I. The two follow singing and dancing sisters to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which is owned by Phil and Bob’s former Army commander, Gen. Henry Waverly. “The general has fallen on hard times and is on the verge of losing his Inn in Vermont. Bob and Phil decide to come to the rescue and take their cast of singers and dancers and perform a spectacular show to raise money to save the inn,” the press release said.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band
Blues rock guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd brings his band to Turlock Community Theatre. “The Louisiana-born axeman and songsmith has sold millions of albums while throwing singles into the Top 10, shining a light on the rich blues of the past and forging ahead with his own modern twist on a classic sound he has embodied since his teens,” according to Shepherd’s website. The show also will feature the Ally Venable Band.
