Green Bay Police issue reminder to drivers after SUV gets hit by train near Ashland Avenue

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Green Bay are reminding drivers of why railroad safety and obeying all warning signs and signals are important after an SUV was hit by a train Thursday morning.

According to the Green Bay Police Department, on July 11 around 7:45 a.m., officers were sent to the 1400 block of South Ashland Avenue for a report of a SUV that was hit by a train. Officials say that the driver of the vehicle was sent to a local hospital to be seen for non-life-threatening injuries.

The release mentions that the initial investigation shows the SUV did not yield to the passing train and crossed onto the tracks when it was hit. There were no reported injuries by the crew on the train.
