Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama will campaign with Vice President Harris next week in battleground states of Georgia and Michigan.

President Obama and Harris will be together in Georgia on Thursday, and Michelle Obama and Harris will be together in Michigan on Oct. 26, according to a senior campaign official.

The campaign considers the events with Harris and the Obamas as a way to harness voter enthusiasm and boost get-out-the-vote efforts in the final two weeks of the campaign, the official said. Michigan early voting starts Oct. 26, and early voting has already started in Georgia.

The event with the former first lady next week is the first time she has been on the campaign trail for Harris this cycle. Considered one of the most popular Democrats in the country, Michelle Obama shared a video message to support President Biden in 2020, but otherwise hasn’t typically hit the campaign trail since leaving the White House.

The former president, meanwhile, campaigned for Harris this month in Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada, and will also travel to Michigan and Wisconsin next week. Former President Clinton has also hit the trail for Harris, focusing on appealing to rural Southern voters.

The Obamas gave some of the most memorable speeches at the August’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The former president called for the nation to move beyond divisiveness, while the former first lady took swings at former President Trump in her remarks.
