Heat dome intensifies Wednesday, Portland area prepares for excessive heat

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A dangerous heat dome will start warming Portland area temperatures Wednesday as record-breaking conditions approach.

Afternoon highs Wednesday will remain seasonal with temperatures rising into the low- to mid- 80s. These July-like temperatures will start Portland’s warming trend this week. Temperatures are expected to surpass 100 degrees by the weekend.

The multi-day event will likely keep Portland above 100 for nearly three days. This could potentially cause life-threatening heat-related illness to some exposed to the elements. Staying hydrated, taking breaks indoors and wearing light colored loose-fitting clothing to reduce the threat of heat is a must.
