Here's how to watch the first debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are gearing up for their upcoming presidential debate on Sept. 10. The debate, the first between the two presidential candidates, is in Philadelphia and will be hosted by ABC News.

There will be no audience in the room, but viewers can still watch the debate across multiple platforms and streaming services.

Here's a look at what you need to know before the debate and how to tune in.

The debate will be at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, at 525 Arch St.

Who is hosting the debate? Who are the moderators of the debate?

ABC News is hosting the debate and managing editor David Muir and ABC News Live "Prime" anchor Linsey Davis will serve as moderators.

The pre-debate special "Race for the White House" will air at 8 p.m. EDT, and will be anchored by chief global affairs correspondent Jonathan Karl, chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce and senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott.

How to watch the debate:

The debate will air on ABC and stream ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu, according to a press release. You can also watch on the ABC app, ABC.com and on connected devices, such as Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 9 p.m. EDT, USA TODAY Network will stream The ABC News Presidential Debate Simulcast on the USA TODAY channel, available on most smart televisions and devices.

What are the debate rules?

According to ABC News, the debate rules include the following:

  • The scheduled debate will be 90 minutes and will have two commercial breaks.

  • Moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis will be the only people asking questions. Candidates will not be permitted to ask questions of each other.

  • Candidates will be introduced by the moderators.

  • A coin flip on Sept. 3 determined podium placement and order of closing statements. Former President Trump won the toss and chose to select the order of statements. Trump will offer the last closing statement and Harris selected the right podium position on screen.

  • Candidates will enter upon introduction from opposite sides of the stage and will stand behind podiums for the duration of the debate.

  • There will be no opening statements and closing statements will be two minutes per candidate.

  • Props and prewritten notes are not allowed. Candidates will be given a pen, paper and a bottle of water.

  • No topics or questions are shared with candidates or campaigns in advance.

  • Candidates will have two minutes to answer questions, two-minute rebuttals and one extra minute for follow-ups, clarifications or responses. Moderators will enforce timing agreements and ensure a civilized discussion.

  • Candidates' microphones are live only for the candidates whose turn it is to speak, and will be muted when the time belongs to another candidate.

  • Campaign staff will not interact with candidates during commercial breaks.
