Here's What Renee Zellweger Wore To the "Bridget Jones" Premieres In 2001 and 2016
Believe it or not, it’s been 15 years since Renee Zellweger first brought our favorite singleton/wanton sex goddess to the silver screen. Yesterday, the 47-year-old hit the bright pink carpet in London to celebrate the world premiere of the third Bridget Jones flick, “Bridget Jones’ Baby,” looking v. glamorous in an asymmetrical satin gabardine frock from designer Shciaparelli’s Fall 2016 Couture line.
The one-shouldered midnight-blue number boasted a sexy, thigh-high split fastened together by an edgy, bejeweled zebra brooch. Zellweger, 47, paired the midi-length dress with simple, strappy heels that brought understated elegance to the look. She went jewelry-free except for a chunky ring on each index finger.
Onscreen, Bridget’s world may be turbulent — now she’s 40, she’s pregnant, and she’s met another man — but in real life, Zellweger’s style has remained consistent over the years. Back in 2001, the star attended the premiere of the iconic, original “Bridget Jones’ Diary” in another midi dress, this one long-sleeved and black with alternating sheer and opaque panels. It was just risqué enough to make Bridget blush.
For the debut of the first flick, Zellweger also opted to forgo accessories, and instead set off her look with just classic black pumps and a bright red pout, proving that simplicity is timeless. As Bridget’s main squeeze Mark Darcy would say: Renee, we like you very much, just as you are.
