Hit-skip leads to 14th OVI arrest for NE Ohio man

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-skip accident that led to one man’s arrest.

According to a press release from OSHP, John Owens, 60, of Uhrichsville, was headed eastbound on State Route 39 near I-77 in Dover Township around 3:15 p.m. on June 24.

According to troopers, Owens rear-ended another vehicle and left the scene.

Troopers found him at his home, where he refused field sobriety tests, according to a press release.

Owens was arrested for OVI. Troopers say it is his 14th OVI charge.

He does not have a driver’s license because of previous felony OVI convictions.

More charges in this case are likely.
