Hocus Pocus 3 gets promising update from Bette Midler
Hocus Pocus star Bette Midler has given an update on the third film, which was greenlit by Disney following the release of the second.
Midler returned as Winifred Sanderson, alongside Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson, and Kathy Najimy as Mary Sanderson for the 2022 sequel. It was seen as a fun if spectacular nostalgia ride by critics, but did well enough on the House of Mouse's streaming service for a follow-up to be ordered.
We haven't heard much about Hocus Pocus 3 since then, and it looks like that's because work is proceeding quite slowly on it.

Appearing on The Jess Cagle Show on SiriusXM, Midler said: "They're talking about a third, very gingerly and very gently. They are. They're talking about a third. The second one was a huge success."
Without more to share about the film, the 'Wind Beneath My Wings' hitmaker went on to talk about why she loved playing Winifred so much.
"She is the closest thing I will ever get to Shakespeare," the singer and actor explained. "She's from the era, from the time of Shakespeare. She really does put it on, and yet she has all the great things you love in a great villain.

"She's vicious, she's hilarious, she's ridiculous-looking, and she doesn't know any of that. It goes completely over her head."
Omri Katz has stated that he and his fellow OG cast members Thora Birch and Vinessa Shaw would all love to return for the third movie after not being asked for the second one, while Hannah Waddingham has said that she is still waiting to be contacted after playing Mother Witch in the second (and she wants a song this time).
Hocus Pocus 1 and 2 are available on Disney+.
